WASHINGTON: The UN Security Council on Monday designated Pakistani nationwide Abdul Rehman Makki as a worldwide terrorist after China lifted its technical hold on the process amidst a political and economic disaster in Islamabad.

Makki, who is the brother-in-law of the like-wise designated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief and 26/11 criminal Hafiz Saeed, was put on the international terror list by the Security Councils ISIL (Daesh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee for participating in the funding, planning, assisting in, preparing, or committing terrorist acts or activities by Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Particularly, the sanctions committee said Makki and other LET/JUD operatives have been involved in raising funds, recruiting and radicalizing youth to violence and preparation attacks in India, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

It held Makki and LET accountable for or having participation in popular terror strikes, consisting of the 26/11 attack on Mumbai, attacks on CRPF workers in Rampur (2008) and Srinagar( 2018 ), and on the Red Fort on December 2000.

Makki, born in Bahawalpur in Punjab Province of Pakistan, is already on the United States Department of the Treasurys Specially Designated International Terrorist list.

Like Hafiz Saeed, he has been convicted Makki for terror financing and is currently in prison-- only on account of global pressure on Islamabad and the alarming economic straits Pakistan remains in for its nurturing of terrorists and horror groups.

Beijings turn-around came amid growing horror attacks on its nationals in Pakistan and a modification of Chinese ambassadors in both Washington and Islamabad.
