NEW DELHI: India and China held another round of diplomatic talks on Wednesday to examine the LAC situation in eastern Ladakh, and talked about propositions for disengagement in remaining locations in an open and useful manner.

They also accepted have another conference of the senior commanders quickly to resolve the scenario, which continues to prevent New Delhi from resuming bilateral exchanges with Beijing.While a breakthrough for disengagement in remaining areas remained evasive, the talks on this celebration took place in-person for the first time considering that 2019.

Substantially, an Indian delegation led by the MEA joint secretary (East Asia) travelled to Beijing for the talks.

This was the very first time an official Indian delegation took a trip to China for talks with their equivalents given that the military stand-off appeared in April-May 2020.

The two sides evaluated the scenario along the LAC in the western sector of India-China border locations and discussed proposals for disengagement in the staying locations in an open and positive way, which would assist in restoration of peace and serenity along the LAC in western sector and develop conditions for repair of normalcy in bilateral relations, stated the federal government in a statement.In order to achieve this goal in accordance with the existing bilateral agreements and procedures, the government included that the 2 countries agreed to hold the next (18th) round of the senior commanders meeting at an early date.

The 2 sides consented to continue discussions through military and diplomatic channels, stated the government.According to China, the 2 sides evaluated the favorable development made formerly, verified the outcomes of disengagement of the border soldiers of the 2 countries in the Galwan Valley and other 4 locations in the early phase, and had a candid and extensive exchange of views on the next phase of consultation concepts and reached a four-point agreement.

Said Beijing, they agreed to actively carry out the essential consensus reached by the leaders of the 2 countries to further stabilise the border situation.Second, it added, the two sides concurred to consolidate the results of the negotiations, strictly abide by the agreements reached by the 2 sides and the spirit of the appropriate consensus, prevent repeating of the scenario on the ground, and ensure peace and harmony in the border locations.

Third, the 2 sides consented to satisfy each other midway on the basis of the previously reached agreement, to speed up the resolution of issues associated with the western area of the Sino-Indian border, and to reach a service appropriate to both sides at an early date; the 2 sides discussed other steps to additional ease the border situation ...
