AHMEDABAD: A 21-year-old MBBS student dedicated suicide by delving into the Sabarmati from Atal Bridge on Tuesday night.
Stress due to scholastic pressure is thought to have actually led Paritosh Modi, the second-year student of NHL Medical College and a native of Palanpur, to take the extreme action, stated cops authorities.
The university examinations for the MBBS course are on and he was to take the practical tests, they added.According to Sabarmati Riverfront (West) authorities, Modi went to the bridge around 7.30 pm on Tuesday.
He sat on the bridge for a while and talked to somebody on the phone.
He climbed up on to the bridge and jumped into the river at 7.57 pm, stated a Sabarmati Riverfront (West) police officer.
A guard at the bridge called a rescuer of Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) who hurried his speedboat to the area near Vallabh Sadan.
Already, the student had drowned.
AFES workers recuperated his body around 10pm on Tuesday.
The victims dad, Piyush Modi, is a physician at the primary health centre (PHC) in Kotarwada village of Banaskantha.
The victims twin bro, Ashutosh Modi, is also a second-year MBBS student, at a medical college in Vadodara.
Paritosh was under serious stress due to his studies.
He was trying to handle it and had even asked his mom to live with him.
He left the hostel in November and had considering that been dealing with her in a leased flat at Pushkar Apartments, Maninagar, stated a policeman.
The police officers said that his family has been informed of his death.
His body was handed over to his household after the postmortem, said a police officer.
Cherry Shah, in-charge dean at NHL Medical College in Ellisbridge, stated that the victim was a good student and may have been depressed.
