BEIJING: Chinese President Xi Jinping has held a video conversation with the soldiers stationed along the India-China border in eastern Ladakh and inspected their combat readiness, official media here reported on Friday.Xi resolved the troops from the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) head office here on the border defence scenario in Khunjerab under the Xinjiang Military Command.Xi, who is also general secretary of the ruling Communist Party of China and the commander-in-chief of the PLA, in his remarks to the soldiers, described how recently, the area has actually been constantly altering and how it had affected the Army, according to the video shown in the main media.During the call, he checked their fight readiness , the report said.One of the soldiers responded that they were now carrying out vibrant and 24-hour monitoring of the border.Xi inquired about their condition and whether they receive fresh vegetables in the unwelcoming terrain.The main media reported Xi had actually asked the border soldiers about their border patrol and management work and hailed the soldiers as designs of border defence and encouraged them to continue their efforts and make new contributions.
