BENGALURU: While police are penetrating the mysterious case of theft of a mobile tower from Mahadevapura in Whitefield division, a comparable event has been reported from Rajajinagar, north Bengaluru.
Remarkably, the plaintiff in both cases is the exact same - an executive from a personal firm that keeps various mobile towers in the city. While the very first grievance was lodged with Mahadevapura police, the most recent was submitted with Subramanyanagar authorities.
The plaintiff said unknown individuals took the mobile tower (in Rajajinagar) over a period of three years (2019-2022).
On January 1, the executive approached cops saying scalawags stole a tower and its devices, consisting of diesel generator and battery bank, from Goshala Road, Garudacharpalya in Mahadevapura.
As per the grievance, the theft took between August 1 and September 1, 2022 and the cost of the stolen tower and related materials was Rs 17 lakh.
As in the Mahadevapura event, where police officers registered a case based on the courts instructions, the executive approached the court in the recent case too, seeking its intervention in getting a First Information Report (FIR) registered.
Based on the personal grievance report (PCR), Subramanyanagar cops signed up the FIR under IPC area 379 (theft) on January 18.
In the 2nd complaint, the executive stated: The mobile tower was installed at 1st Block, Rajajinagar in 2010.
It was rented out to a private cellular company.
The company closed its company during 2017.
As we prepared to rent the tower to others, we did not dismantle it.But we might not check out the tower in between 2019 and 2021 for various factors, including the pandemic.
On May 5, 2022, we checked out the area and found the tower was taken along with devices.
The cost of these products is around Rs 16 lakh.
An investigator said this is a rare case and there are a number of concerns that have to be addressed.
We have sought explanations from the plaintiff and he is requiring time to address them.
Once he responds, we will pick the future strategy, he stated.
Another officer said: These towers will be at least 50 feet tall and weigh over 10 tonnes.
Dismantling them requires technical knowledge and adequate time.
