Astronomers produce most detailed 3D map of the Milky Way made up of 2bn stars

The detailed map is based on the most recent data from the European Space Agency's Gaia space observatory, which has two telescopes scanning the Milky Way from a location about 930,000 miles (1.5 million km) from Earth.
