TEHRAN-- The northwestern province of Zanjan has an outstanding cultural heritage due to the fact that of its rich historic background, the provincial tourist chief has said.In terms of cultural heritage, Zanjan is one of the leading provinces in the nation, Seyyed Saeid Safavi described on Wednesday.Due to its historical and cultural development, Zanjan province is among the countrys prominent provinces in this field, and the capabilities of this province need to be more extensively understood, the main added.Many cultural heritage capabilities of the province have been ignored so far, but their introduction and promotion can add to the provinces advancement, he noted.Zanjan is among the cities founded by Sassanid King Ardashir I (180-242 CE).

The province makes a base for wider expeditions of the architectural wonder of Soltaniyeh.

The subterranean delights of the Katale-Khor caverns, colorful mountains, and the UNESCO-registered Takht-e Soleiman ruins are nearby.In January 2020, Zanjan was designated as a world city of filigree by the World Crafts Council after the WCC assessors checked out various craft workshops, stores, shows, and exchanges of the city in a two-day travel plan in December 2019.
