Belarus has submitted a note of intent to Brazil expressing its desire to join the BRICS group, according to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.The note, handed over by Belarusian Ambassador Sergey Lukashevich to Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Luisa Escorel de Moraes, signifies Belarus’s interest in becoming a member of BRICS.During their meeting, the diplomats discussed the potential for strengthening cooperation between Belarus and Brazil, particularly within the realm of multilateral diplomacy.They emphasized their readiness to enhance political and economic-trade interactions between the two countries.Belarus expresses intention to join BRICS group and delivers note to Brazil.

(Photo Internet reproduction)The importance of potash fertilizer supply to the Brazilian market and the prospects of Belarus’s participation in Brazil’s state programs for private farmers and family farms were also highlighted.Earlier this year, Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergey Aleynik expressed the country’s interest in joining the BRICS group, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.Belarus aims to finalize its membership process by 2023.A total of 15 countries, including Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, have shown interest in joining the BRICS group.Originally established in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China, the group expanded in 2010, including South Africa.
