NEW DELHI: All-round India produced a medical efficiency with both bat and ball to sign up a squashing eight-wicket win over New Zealand in the 2nd one-day international (ODI) on Saturday in Raipur.
With the success, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
After bowlers knocked out the Kiwis for a meagre 108, India batters ferreted out the small target in simply 20.1 overs for a commanding win.

Rohit Sharma (51 off 50) and Shubman Gill (40 * off 53) added 72 runs for the opening wicket in 14.2 overs to set the platform for a simple chase.India lost two wickets, Rohit and Virat Kohli (11 ), but were never in difficulty during the run chase as Gill and Ishan Kishan (8 *) took the hosts home in the 21st over.After deciding to bowl initially, Indias relentless rate attack ran through a fragile New Zealand batting line-up.

Shami got one to form away and Daryl Mitchell, in his effort to flick it on the on-side, wound up mistiming it back to the bowler.Hardiks one-handed catch to get rid of Devon Conway in the 10th over was mind-blowing.
Shardul Thakur (1/26) got himself into the wicket column in the following over by drawing a thick edge from Tom Lathams bat.

Both were dismissed in an area of 6 balls to end New Zealands hopes of a recovery.While Santner played a well-disguised slower ball from Hardik on to the stumps, Phillips provided a guideline catch to Suryakumar Yadav at deep midwicket off a long hop from Washington Sundar (2/7).
Kuldeep Yadav (1/29) caught number 11 Blair Tickner in front to end the New Zealand innings in 34.3 overs.India were clinical in the run chase with Rohit enthralling the crowd with his trademark pull shots.
Among them chose a 6, the first maximum of the video game, as he hooked Lockie Ferguson over fine-leg.
Fresh from a double hundred in Hyderabad, Gill too came up with some elegant strokes, including a splitting cover drive off Ferguson.The New Zealand pacers stopped working to get as much seam movement as their Indian counterparts, making the task simpler for the batters.Rohit completed his fifty with a single in the 13th over before Shipley had him leg before wicket with a ball that kept low.Virat Kohli got the loudest cheer from the crowd as typical but might only last nine balls as Santner overcame him for the 2nd time in as lots of games.The third and final ODI will be played in Indore on Tuesday.(With inputs from PTI)
