SRINAGAR: Security forces killed three terrorists in a two-hour-long gunfight while they were trying to cross the LoC in the Hathlanga Nala area of Uri sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, but one body couldn’t be retrieved due to heavy Pakistani firing.The Army’s Chinar Corp gave details via social media: “In a joint operation launched by Indian Army, @JmuKmrPolice and Intelligence agencies, an infiltration bid was foiled today in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector, Baramulla.

Anti-infiltration and surveillance grids in the area were intensified, and ambushes set up.“As the search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon them, which was retaliated to, leading to a shootout,” the officer said.Two AK-series rifles, one pistol, seven hand grenades, one IED, and a sum of Rs 46,000 in Indian currency, along with Pakistani Rs 6,000, as well as other warlike stores were found on the two slain terrorists and at the site.
The two bodies have yet to be identified.The Srinagar-based defence PRO said the operation — lasting eight hours in total — once again highlighted the intentions of the Pakistani military in supporting terrorism and disrupting peace in J-K.
