KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 14Unorganised and weak political parties and leaders are to blame for rising corruption in Nepal. 10,000 people are missing and thousands are feared dead as eastern Libya is devastated by floods Minister Gurung calls for political parties to come together for prosperous Nepal According to a report titled 'Corruption Reflection Nepal, 2023' unveiled by the Alternative Foundation here today, corruption prevails in several forms in Nepal and bribery, embezzlement, fraud, extortion, abuse of power, nepotism and favouritism are deeply rooted in Nepalese culture, supporting corruption.According to the findings of the study, the major sources of corruption are traditional politics and working styles, nepotism and familialism, greed and desire to get rich quickly, policy loopholes, money-minded bureaucracy and authorities, delayed justice, unfair political appointments, abuse of the rule of law, cultural effects, are the sources of corruption. Similarly, grand political and bureaucratic corruption is being propped up in Nepal.

Almost all sectors - public, political and private - have been affected by corruption.Corruption negatively impacts a good governance system and jeopardises transparency and accountability, according to the study.The report has been divided into two sections: 'politics and corruption' and the 'government and corruption'.During the survey that includes 1,000 respondents, most of the respondents perceived that political parties did not implement their election manifestos.
