Over 100 young students and professionals from various parts of Europe convened at the Young Leaders Summit to explore conservative approaches to address climate change. These individuals, primarily from Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries, sought practical and honest strategies, driven by their skepticism toward certain climate change solutions.Young people today are disillusioned by the hypocrisy they perceive in the climate change discourse. They question the sincerity of celebrities who advocate for mass adoption of small electric vehicles while continuing to fly in private jets.Organized by the New Direction think tank, founded by Margaret Thatcher, the summit aimed to foster more realistic perspectives on climate issues.

(Photo Internet reproduction)They also harbor doubts about those who endorse wind and solar power but reject nuclear energy—a proven, accident-free source of electricity generation in countries like France.Organized by the New Direction think tank, founded by Margaret Thatcher, the summit aimed to foster more realistic perspectives on climate issues.Participants acknowledged that a complete transition from fossil fuels would require a significant expansion of nuclear power. They emphasized that even with widespread deployment of wind turbines, solar panels, and electric cars, fossil fuels would still be necessary for manufacturing these technologies’ components. The summit attendees also delved into the environmental implications of energy-intensive industries relocating to countries like China, which heavily relies on coal-fired power plants. They stressed the importance of a balanced approach considering such shifts’ global impact.Furthermore, participants discussed the moral implications of certain climate change initiatives. They cautioned that replacing fossil fuels with renewables and gasoline cars with electric vehicles could disproportionately burden low-income individuals, small businesses, and farmers due to increased electricity and transportation costs. They underscored the significance of economic growth, innovation, and efficient regulations in achieving a cleaner environment. While advocating for environmental justice, the young leaders cautioned against policies that hindered economic development and denied access to basic necessities in less developed regions. They firmly believed that no country should be prevented from employing modern technology to fulfill essential economic goals. In their quest for practical solutions, participants recognized the value of tree planting as a long-term strategy to act as carbon sinks and preserve the beauty of nature. The Young Leaders Summit infused hope for a more transparent, just, and effective approach to climate change. It upheld the legacy of Margaret Thatcher, inspiring a generation to pursue sensible and sustainable environmental solutions.
