The summit occurs amidst internal tensions exacerbated by Argentina’s economic crisis. The discussions at the summit reflect Uruguay’s concerns about the progress of negotiations within Mercosur and its desire to explore new trade opportunities outside the bloc. The country aims to address trade barriers, pursue agreements with global partners, and ensure its economic interests are effectively represented in international trade negotiations.
